Right to Choose ADHD in the Black Country: check your referral

Right to Choose is an England NHS right subject to eligibility and exceptions. In the Black Country, some providers have been asked to pause new assessments temporarily. This is not a pause affecting every provider or every appointment.

What the local NHS notice says

Black Country ICB says it and Birmingham and Solihull ICB have asked some providers to temporarily pause new ADHD and autism assessments. Affected providers should contact patients. The notice distinguishes new assessments from booked or in-progress assessments and some post-diagnosis care.

Provider availability can change. Read the current notice rather than assuming that an old provider list describes your referral today.

If you are already waiting

Your provider is the best place to check whether this notice affects your own referral. Clairemind cannot check a waiting list or make a referral.

  1. Read any messages from your assessment provider.
  2. Ask the provider whether your referral or appointment is affected.
  3. If your circumstances or symptoms have changed, tell your GP and provider.
  4. Ask what support is available while you wait.

Check before your GP conversation

ADHD UK is an independent charity, not the NHS. Its Right to Choose resource can help you investigate options; your GP and the provider should confirm the current arrangements.
