What are the signs of ADHD in adults?

Short answer

The main signs are trouble paying attention, having a lot of energy or feeling restless, and acting on impulse. Signs usually start before age 12, even if nobody noticed them then.

Common signs

Losing focus, losing things, forgetting plans, and finding it hard to start or finish tasks.

Feeling restless, talking a lot, interrupting, or making quick decisions without thinking them through.

Why it can be missed

Other conditions, like anxiety, can cause similar signs. That's why a GP will think about other possible causes too.
