On the waiting list for a child ADHD assessment: what you can do

Waiting can feel long. There are still useful things you can do now.

Screening is not a diagnosis. You can ask for help without being certain that ADHD is the explanation.

Support doesn't have to wait

NICE says support for a child's needs should not depend on having a formal diagnosis.

  1. Keep a short diary of examples.
  2. Stay in touch with school.
  3. Contact your GP if things get worse.

Parent programmes

The NHS mentions parent training and education programmes as support for families of children with ADHD.
