Meeting your child's teacher about attention worries

A short, calm meeting with school can give you a clearer picture before any appointment.

Screening is not a diagnosis. You can ask for help without being certain that ADHD is the explanation.

Ask what they see

The NHS suggests speaking to your child's teacher or school SENCO if you think your child may have ADHD, as well as a GP.

  1. Ask what happens in class and when things go well.
  2. Ask how it compares to other settings.
  3. Agree what support to try and when to review.
